But then this seems like small potatoes compared to LindaG’s new dance. 😊 High-fives to LG, David, and Adrienne for debuting this at the Wassail last weekend – I thought it went exceptionally well for being put together in merely 2 x practices!!
General notes observed last night:
Keep sets tight – if you “drift” (I guess this IS a sailor dance, after all) during the dance you’ll have a tougher time with the choruses and hey.
Foot-up is OUTSIDE footed as it has galleys – good observation from Adrienne.
Foray capers in the chorus are right-footed, and you switch feet (unlike Bampton).
Possible RenRose adaptation for end of chorus (replacing the rather uninspiring “1/3 galley”) – do an extra foray caper with a plain caper, then foot-together-jump…or to that effect?
Hey has an on-your-own and foot-together-jump halfway through.
Musos – WATCH the dancers, especially during the chorus – there are certain beats and notes that we cue and really “launch” off of.
Refresher on the lyrics:
Oh, list oh list to me sorrowful lay
And attention give to me song, I pray
When you've heard it all you’ll say
[Start on-your-own] That I’m an unfortunate tailor
